I purchased several of the predecessor model, the 4350d, for use in my office. Those machines have been rock solid, and when they began to get harder to find, I decided to go with the "newer" version. Sadly, "new" is NOT improved. The newer version cannot hold a candle to the prior version - it is flimsier, has a less intuitive interface, shoddy build quality, and requires a more expensive toner cartridge that is not compatible with the older models. Moreover, the "new" toner cartridge runs out ... of toner much sooner than the older ones - probably by design. After less than 2 months of very light use, the ADF (automatic document feeder) ceased to work. There is a reason this machine is so inexpensive - the 4350d was inexpensive and a great value - this one is just cheap. Canon should think twice about testing their customers' loyalty by putting out such a substandard product. More >

The Canon MF4450 is a good, fast, easy to set up multifunction. I would also consider the Canon MF4350d. I mentioned in my blog [...] that using the Canon 104 cartridge will probably be cheaper per page than the Canon 128 cartridge. As of July 2011 you can still get the Canon MF4350 at Amazon.Canon ImageCLASS MF4350d Laser All-in-One Printer

I love this printer...simple, fast copies, quiet. It really delivers. Must be careful when feeding docs so that they won't come out crooked...almost deducted a star for that...but this is an amazingly low price for the quality of this printer. It is changing my life in my small office workplace.
